The original Space Cat, Bowie is the reason I fell in love with this breed. We had a truly amazing time together. Through Bowie, I joined a community of breeders and exhibitors that has become an enormous part of my life. He was adoring and demanding, an absolute character whose particular opinions dictated the shape of our lives.
Bowie touched the lives of many people, a mark few cats can say they had. In 2014, I joined Instagram as @bowiespacecat, and spent the next decade showing the world his daily adventures, accumulating tens of thousands of followers along the way. I am so glad he was able to bring so much joy to so many people.
I must thank Marg Peppler, who brought him into this world, and who made sure that he went into no other hands but mine. I cannot imagine what my life would have been like without him.

The singleton kitten of an accidental breeding, Blissey emerged from the universe as a miraculous creature unto herself. I first met her in November 2009, while showing Bowie as a kitten; she was in the middle of a rapid-fire campaign for a CFA National Kitten Win with her breeder/owner Christine Arnold. I have never been so happy to lose! With Chris, Blissey was the dam of many beautiful kittens, earning her Distinguished Merit award for producing at least 5 Grand Champion/Premier offspring in 2014. In 2017, Bliss came to live with me for a peaceful retirement. That was not on Blissey's agenda!
Instead we enjoyed a "victory lap" campaign season, ten years after her first. She earned her full complement of Premiership titles at 10 years old, a Canadian National Win, and was presented with the Best in Show judging at the CFA International Show in 2018 and 2019 as Best Veteran in Show. Showing her in her senior years was a delight and a treasure. There are not many cats who are extremely competitive at both 10 months and 10 years! She earned her last rosette in May 2023, at the age of 15.
Blissey's legacy is an extraordinary one. Through her descendants, she is on the pedigrees of many, many Himalayans and almost all pointed Exotics alive today. Her health, structure, and temperament have left an indelible mark on these breeds.

Mia was my very first cat. Yes, I dived into the deep end! The journey from never owning a cat before to trying to keep a high-white Persian in show condition was a fast and fun one. Not that she appreciated it, as she was not a happy show cat. We persevered however, and she did eventually achieve not only her CFA Grand Premier title but her CCA-AFC Supreme Master Grand Premier as well.
At home, she was a menace, but a tolerant one. Her naughtiness taught me everything I needed to learn about being a cat parent. You could bribe her into almost anything with either smoked salmon or Kraft singles cheese slices, although she might hold a grudge after. She passed suddenly at age 7, and it fills me with sadness that I never knew her as a grumpy old lady.
